USE OF COOKIES AND OTHER TECHNOLOGIES ON OUR WEBSITE

COOKIES

In general websites use cookies in several scenarios. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser. They are used, for example, to determine the frequency of use and the number of users of the website and thus to make the website more user-friendly and effective. A distinction is made between “session cookies” and “persistent cookies”. "Session cookies" are only temporarily stored for the duration of your visit of the website and are automatically deleted afterwards. The content of a persistent cookie is limited to an identification number to record information about users who repeatedly access a website. The purpose of such cookies is to recognise you as a user and, if necessary, to be able to offer you an optimised user guidance.

Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. You can prevent cookies from being saved by specifying this in your browser settings. If you do not accept cookies, this may lead to limitations in the function of the website.

SESSION COOKIES

The use of session cookies is necessary to provide the website. This represents a legitimate interest for us. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data using session cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. You can object to the use of session cookies, but please note that some functions of our website cannot be offered without cookies. Your personal data will only be stored for the duration of your use of the website and will then be deleted. Your rights as a data subject towards us can be found in the "Rights of the data subject" section below in the general principles of data processing.

PERSISTENT COOKIES

Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a predefined period of time, which may differ depending on the cookie. You can delete the cookies at any time in the security settings of your browser. With the help of cookies, we are able to track your usage behaviour and thus improve our service for you. They are also intended to provide you with an optimised browsing experience on our website. Persistent cookies are to be differentiated according to whether they are technically necessary or not. If this is to be affirmed in the individual case, their usage is legally based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Cookies that fulfil purposes that are not technically necessary require your consent (e.g., marketing purposes). These cookies are only used when you have actively given your consent. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out based on the given consent prior the withdrawal. You can set your internet browser in such a way that our cookies cannot be stored on your device or that cookies that have already been stored are deleted. If you do not accept cookies, this may limit the extent of functionability of our website. Based on your consent, we furthermore integrate cookies from third-party providers. In this case, the corresponding data packages from third parties are stored in your browser or transmitted to them.

You can usually prevent the use of third-party cookies by selecting the appropriate setting in your browser to disable cookies. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data using third-party cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out based on the given consent prior the withdrawal. Your rights as a data subject towards us can be found in the "Rights of the data subject" section below in the general principles of data processing.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, California, USA. Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to analyse the visitors usage of the website. This is essentially carried out by Google LLC. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA.

Google uses this information on our behalf for the following purposes: To evaluate your use of the website (e.g., the length of time you spend on the website and the content you view), to create reports on website activity and to provide the website operator with other services relating to website activity and internet usage (e.g., visitor sources such as links and search engines).

Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data, in which case a randomly generated client ID is assigned to the user in the locally stored cookie and saved. Google reserves the right to use the collected data for its own purposes. The usage data is processed by Google LLC and the data is stored in the USA. In addition to Google, US government authorities therefore may also have access to this data. Google has the ability to link your data with other data about you, such as search history, personal accounts, usage data from other devices and any other data Google may have about you.

On our website, we use the code extension "anonymizeIP", which serves to activate IP anonymisation on this website. By using this extension, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in states of the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a server in the USA and shortened there. However, the anonymisation does not result in the complete data processing being anonymised, as further usage data is collected when Google Analytics is used, which is to be assessed as personal data. Thus, for example, a link to the user of an existing Google account may be possible.

The legal basis for data processing is your consent in accordance with Article 6 para.1 lit. a) GDPR. In accordance with Article 7 para. 3 GDPR, you can withdraw your consent at any time, in which case your personal data will be deleted immediately. The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out based on the given consent prior the withdrawal. Your rights as a data subject towards us can be found in the "Rights of the data subject" section below in the general principles of data processing.

You can effectively withdraw your consent at any time by reopening the cookie settings.

Furthermore, Google offers you the option of preventing the collection of the data generated by the cookie and collected through your usage behaviour on our website by downloading and installing the browser plugin available under the following link (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/). This tool sets an opt-out cookie, which prevents the future collection of your data. We would like to point out that the cookie is only valid for the browser and this website used during the installation. If you delete the cookies in your browser, you must set the opt-out cookie again. For further information, please refer to Google's privacy policy https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/.
