BRABUS x Continental
Papenburg 3000 2023 | High-Speed Extravaganza on 3000 Meters
28.08.2023 - On August 5th, 2023 the European tuning elite gathered in northern Germany for Papenburg 3000’s fourth round – and, as usual, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to put our latest designs to the ultimate endurance test. Hosted by Continental and Autobild Sportscars, the annual high-performance event taking place at one of the largest test tracks in the world was once again the proving ground for several well-known names rolling up to the start line alongside us – including AC Schnitzer, Klasen Motors, NAP Manufaktur, MTM, Giacuzzo, Edo Comeptition and 9FF Engineering. We elected the BRABUS 900 Superblack, based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 to represent team BRABUS at this year’s record hunt. The goal: To find out what speed can be achieved over a distance of 3000 meters.
An SUV going head-to-head against a fierce sports car competition? Definitely a challenge. But not one we are known to shy away from. In 2021, we fired up the BRABUS 900 Rocket Edition, based on the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe ahead of its official launch – setting a speed of 324.71 km/h and with that, securing the world record of world’s fastest street legal SUV. "Totally relaxed with a massage function in the seat. The thrust is gigantic, it just doesn't stop." BRABUS test pilot Dirk Berkenkopf joked as he exited the cockpit. But besting surgical aerodynamics with sheer power has long become a tradition here at BRABUS, going back as early as 2009 when the BRABUS GLK V12 brought home the same record. At that time still in Nardò, Italy.
This year’s contestant – the BRABUS 900 Superblack – brings 900 hp as well as 1250 Nm of unrelenting torque up to racing speed, courtesy of its 4.5-liter twin-turbocharged BRABUS Rocket increased displacement engine. Equipped with the Continental Sport-Contact 7 high-performance tires and Dirk Berkenkopf once again reprising his role as official test pilot, the 2.5-ton supercar was clocked at an incredible 295.43 km/h before charging across the finish line.
We would like to thank our technology partner Continental for this exclusive event and look forward to further projects!
